Geoffrey Rush in "Shine". If it had just been a quickly-forgotten performance in a quickly-forgotten movie, and if Rush had promptly faded back into the obscurity from which he emerged, I might not hate the performance as much. But no...this only lead to big roles in high-profile projects, and he's been one of the most shameless hams since.

I voted for Rush in 'Shine'. A totally unappealing and downright annoying performance.

I went with Hoffman but I find almost equally annoying the performances of Pacino, Hanks (Forrest Gump) and Rush.

I went with Al Pacino. That was worse than pity sex!

Rush in Shine never really clicked with me either.

Which of these Best Actor winners gave the least impressive performance?

I went with Nicholson, for his slightly-above-sitcom-level performance in a sitcom-level movie.
