Nothing is settled.

Last year's acting winners were all sentimental favorites, not those who gave the most critically acclaimed performances of the year. This year may be no different.

Paul Giamatti is probably the closest thing to a sentimental favorite this year, as well as a critically acclaimed actor in one of the year's most acclaimed films, which could give him an edge over both Domingo and Cooper.

Annette Bening, who like Domingo, is getting good reviews for Nyad though the film not so much just like Brendan Fraser last year. Could it be time for the "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" star to win over previous winner Emma Stone and the still in demand Carey Mulligan who will almost certainly have more chances?

So unless the Academy wants to go the colour route the Oscar most probably (and finally) will go to Bradley Cooper for Maestro. If Kidman could win for that nose then Cooper most certainly will as the Academy loves biopics with actors transforming their appearance.

Rustin reviews

The only major review I can find for the film, which played at Telluride but may have not been priority for a lot of critics.

I don't doubt the critic liked the movie but 1) his review reads very political-advocate to me and 2) does the headline really reflect what's in the body text?
