I can imagine. He was one of the all-time greats, and I’ve never heard anyone argue otherwise. He was a prime factor in my love for baseball.

RIP Vin Scully

Post by danfrank »

A while back Sabin had asked why people hated the Dodgers, and I went on a rant about all the things that filled me with disdain about that particular team. The thing that was indisputably right about the Dodgers was having Vin Scully as their announcer for many decades. I grew up in the Los Angeles basin and had the great privilege of listening to Vin Scully call many hundreds of Dodger games. He was someone who put you at ease and kept you engaged. He had a folksy manner combined with great knowledge of the game. His vocal style, with this great cadence and just slightly exaggerated inflections was just incredibly captivating. He was a great gift to Dodger fans and anyone who loved baseball and was able to listen to him call a game. Rest In Peace, Mr. Scully.
