I saw this on another forum:

"I asked Graham Moore if he was gay. Graham told me that he is a straight man. I told him rather grandly that all of my films had gay themes. Perhaps, sensing my ire, my gay militancy or simply knowing that a gay film maker in Hollywood is perceived as a lesser film maker, to some… no more than a pornographer, Moore boasted that he had gone to great lengths to purge the film of anything gay. He didn't want Turing's gayness to be a 'distraction'. He didn't want gay sex to 'put off the majority'. He was adamant that he didn't want his film to be a gay film."

That really justifies every damn complaint some of us had about this film. Moore wins an Oscar for a script about a gay genius, speaks with a definite gay voice, gives an emotional speech about how he once attempted suicide and reaches out to other young people who may feel the way he did... and then says he's NOT gay? Honey, no.

Let dws have his opinion - he's entitled to it without someone getting all "political" on him

I'm not going to argue with you. You can find several posts where I express my feelings about the film, none of which hide the fact that I found it much more complex and probing than most of its fans or detractors. I'm content to let my previous posts suffice.

I think Sniper and Theory would've been much more deserving than Imitation Game. But he gave a good speech, and I'm not going to be grumpy about his win.
Really? Was there something in particular that impressed you about AMERICAN SNIPER's screenplay? Was it the Fox News talking points that Chris Kyle kept spouting? Was it his wife's constant crying and begging him to be a loving husband and father? Was it the simplistic and xenophobic portrayal of the Iraqi people? What did you like about that screenplay?

That's actually true. Usually the Adapted category is the stronger one, but not this year.

I get the feeling he probably could've written a better screenplay about the things he discussed in his speech.

Nobody predicted that standing ovation. The speeches all night have been more substantive than usual. I love it!
