Changed my vote to James Cagney in Yankee Doodle Dandy to break a 3-way tie.

This is another tough one. Fonda in The Grapes of Wrath? Cagney in Yankee Doodle Dandy? Bogart in Casablanca? Stewart in It's a Wonderful Life?

I think I'll go with Stewart.
