It appears that we are all in substantial agreement regarding picture, directing, writing, acting, music, cinematography, film editing, art direction, foreign langiage film, animated feature, and documentary feature. The disagreement involves just two areas. One is short films, where you might as well randomly guess and each of our luck should probably be the same. So, the other area, the one that should dominate how well we score compared to each other, is the below-the-line tech categories.

Neiher. It's because it's used better in the film. It's part of the plot whereas the other is sung over the opening credits or something.

Why are we all predicting the Muppet movie song for the win? Is it actually a better song than the other nominee or is it because this song is from a Muppet movie? I haven't seen both films and don't plan to watch either.

The Academy would be very stupid not to acknowledge her. She's one of the ''club members'' who did ''good'' and now has a hand in one of the nominated films this year. Plus it would make for an Oscar moment for the worldwide audience. Maybe Billy Crystal will point her out and acknowledge her?

I'm sticking with my guns as far as the contest goes, but as I've said in other posts. I don't really think most of my picks have much of a chance. Von Sydow, however, is the likeliest exception based on the respect he holds within the Academy. Extremely Loud is not a lousy film, it is a polarizing film that people seem to either loathe or like despite its shortcomings. Plummer is in a film that people either seem to love or shrug off as nothing special. I think it could very easily come down to which of the two actors voters actually like more, in which case von Sydow is the no-brainer choice.

The most intriguing question at this point is will the TV cameras find Mother Dolores (the former Dolores Hart) in the audience and will more than 10% of the world-wide audience know who she is?

I really like this Big. You're sticking to your guns to the bitter end. Lol.

If von Sydow wins it will be a thrilling moment because a great actor will finally be recognised although it will be for a lousy film. Of course it would be far better if von Sydow is voted an honorary award next year which would encompass, properly, this actor's brilliant career in film. The downside of a von Sydow win would be Plummer, another great actor, going home empty handed. I don't think Plummer's overall film career rates a future honorary award if he loses.

Thanks Magilla. I'll remove some runner ups in that case.
