For all the abuse Magilla took from us, he should assign an appropriate punishment for each of us such as a day of shame and humiliation.

You've heard of vote-splitting, right? This will be the Oscar's first instance of vote-fusing.

Replace with Dujardin, and blame it on my getting home really late last night.

It's because the Academy has a rule against a single actor receiving more than one nomination in a single category.

In the realm of No Guts No Glory, I have a few oddballs, yet possibilities:
1. There are ten Best Picture nominees, and one of them is My Week With Marilyn.
2. Jessica Chastain gets no nomination.
3. There are only two Best Song nominees, both from The Muppets.
4. Shame and The Iron Lady, and Moneyball and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo are all nominated for
Screenplay, causing each race to have two of the same screenwriters.
5. Margaret somehows gets a below the line nod, like Editing.

I'm just doing the major categories.

No guts, no glory: Michael Shannon for Best Actor; The Help not nominated for Best Picture if only five nominees; Jessica Chastain is snubbed; no Malick for Best Director; no TTSS for major categories.

Biggest Surprise I can't bring myself to predict: Bennett Miller for Best Director.

I already did my serious predictions in another thread. Now I want to do my No Guts, No Glory predictions. With all the precursors we are rarely confronted with a genuine surprise nominee. For every category, we have our five nominees and then at least five more alternatives. However, in honor of SAG's nomination of Demian Bichir in A BETTER LIFE, I wanted to just throw out some truly alternative Oscar predictions. All of these nominees would be surprising but are still realistic (no acting nomination for Adam Sandler or something like that). I would love to see what out there Oscar nominations other folks are willing to predict. Think of the bragging rights you can have tomorrow morning if you get it right.
