Carol and Son of Saul were the only films in my top five that weren't nominated, and Son of Saul won the Best Foreign Language Oscar, which made Carol an easy pick.

The only other films on this list that were in my top ten were Ex Machina and 45 Years. A write-in for me would be Labyrinth of Lies, which was robbed of a Foreign Film nomination and placed number six on my top list behind Spotlight, Brooklyn, Carol, Room and Son of Saul.

As far as directors go, Crowley and Nemes should also have been nominated along with Haynes, Abrahamson and McCarthy, who was pick to win.

I'm paralyzed from voting here. I want to vote Carol/Steve Jobs/Son of Saul in both categories; to choose any one feels like slighting the others, and I can't bring myself to do that.

I'd like to finish this season's polls with one that Magilla posted two years ago regarding those films and their directors that were left off. Share your thoughts. Thank you.
