Tony winner Paul Rogers dies

By: Richard Anthony Baker Published 05:07pm Tuesday, October 8, 2013 thestage.co.ukTony award-winning actor Paul Rogers has died at the age of 96.

His family issued a statement saying that his career, which began in 1938, continued until he retired in 1997. "He was never without work unless by choice," the statement continued, " (which is) probably the greatest accolade for any performer."

Among the highlights of his career was his performance as Max in Harold Pinter's The Homecoming, directed by Peter Hall for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1967 (for which he won the Tony award for best actor) and the role of the ageing actor in Ronald's Harwood The Dresser in its first Broadway production.
