Pretty sure it's Tropical Malady that will miss out there.

The "Skandies" are an online award granted in the name of allegedly infamous online critic-turned-screenwriter of Pretty Persuasion. They're led by Mike D'Angelo of panix.com/~dangelo. He's of the opinion that at the end of the decade, nothing ranks terribly high because time hasn't set in yet. When they did their BEST OF THE DECADE list at the tail end of the nineties, only Rushmore (yay!) ranked of the last two years in BEST FILM OF THE DECADE and only Jeff Bridges of The Big Lebowski of BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE DECADE.

They've just now revealed no.s 20 - 6 on both Film and Performance of the Decade. Here they are.

BEST FILM OF THE DECADE
6. The New World (Terrence Malick)
7. Memento (Christopher Nolan)
8. Yi Yi (A One and a Two...) (Edward Yang)
9. 25th Hour (Spike Lee)
10. No Country for Old Men (Joel & Ethan Coen)
11. Before Sunset (Richard Linklater)
12. Silent Light (Carlos Reygadas)
13. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (Quentin Tarantino)
14. Werckmeister Harmonies (Bela Tarr)
15. Irreversible (Gaspar Noé)
16. Zodiac (David Fincher)
17. Ghost World (Terry Zwigoff)
18. The Man Who Wasn't There (Joel & Ethan Coen)
19. Trouble Every Day (Claire Denis)
20. Gerry (Gus Van Sant)

The Remaining Five Slots I think will end up being between...
* Dogville (Lars von Trier)
* Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Michel Gondry)
* In the Mood for Love (Wong Kar-wai)
* Mulholland Drive (David Lynch)
* There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson)
* Tropical Malady (Apichatpongg Weerasathakul)
...I'm guessing that Eternal Sunshine... will sadly get the shaft.
(Best Guess: 1. Dogville, 2. In the Mood for Love, 3. Mulholland Drive, 4. Tropical Malady, 5. There Will Be Blood)

BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE DECADE
6. Summer Phoenix, Esther Kahn
7. Bjork, Dancer in the Dark
8. Laura Dern, Inland Empire
9. Mathieu Amalric, Kings & Queen
10. Daniel Day-Lewis, Gangs of New York
11. Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight
12. Christian Bale, American Psycho
13. Billy Bob Thornton, The Man Who Wasn't There
14. Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
15. Laura Linney, You Can Count on Me
16. Amy Ryan, Gone Baby Gone
17. Q'orianka Kilcher, The New World
18. Julianne Moore, Far From Heaven
19. Peter Sarsgaard, Shattered Glass
20. Aurélien Recoing, Time Out

The Remaining Slots I think will end up being between...
* Maggie Cheung, In the Mood for Love
* Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
* Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain
* Mark Ruffalo, You Can Count on Me
* Imelda Staunton, Vera Drake
* Naomi Watts, Mulholland Drive
...not sure. Staunton will probably end up being out.
(Best Guess: 1. Heath Ledger, 2. Naomi Watts, 3. Daniel Day-Lewis, 4. Mark Ruffalo, 5. Maggie Cheung)
