1980 Harvard Lampoon Movie Worst Awards

Post by Big Magilla »

Individual Awards:

Kirk Douglas Award for Worst Actor: Jack Nicholson, The Shining
Jane Fonda Award for Worst Actress: Shelley Duvall,Popeye
The Madison Oscar (presented to Walter Matthau every time he appears on screen without his trousers, flashing some hairy gam): Walter Matthau, Little Miss Marker
The Manischewitz Whine Award: the "Shumalke" this year goes to "Sir" Laurence Olivier for his performance in The Jazz Singer, another in a seemingly endless series of inexplicable aged Hebrew roles. Not since Meyer Lansky has one man done so much for the Jewish peoples.
The Watergate Worst (for the most outrageous cover-up job of the year: John Hurt and his makeup man, The Elephant Man
The Merino Award: Serial, a tepid tale of doings and undoings in MarinCounty, California.

Note: The Merino Award, first presented in 1960, is a play on the name, and is usually given to someone with a name similar to that of the merino (sheep). The first two recipients were Maureen O'Hara (1960) and Rita Moreno (1961).
