Whilst I would like to think that some of my picks are rational and analytical to my personal thinking I do think in the end they all come from the heart so to speak. Though really they come from the part of the brain that feels like the heart as its nothing more than a large muscle that pumps blood around the body. It amazes me to this day that whatever we are feeling be it fear, happiness, sadness, all of our emotions literally feel like they are coming from the centre of of chest but in reality its a part of brain.

Do you have a link to the discussion - I don't recall it.

Curious, what are your pet peeves for not including foreign language performances? Just curious because I'm thinking of not continuing doing any 'Oscar shouldabeens' in the future primarily because so many films are being made all over the world and really I'm only scratching the surface. I'm also loosing my passion for contemporary cinema and its not just because its changing but I'm getting older and have different priorities.

Thanks for the von Stroheim pickup Uri. Yes, only 7 but still better than Academy, not to mention my numerous nominations for foreign language films in this category.

As for Al Pacino, I'm going to change his placement to lead where he belongs. I've never really be comfortable with that placement in particular and his not the only one. I will review all my listings because there are a couple of others that are very much on the fence.

Charlie Ruggles is most definitely a supporting player in Ruggles of Red Gap. Ruggles is Laughton's character and he is indeed the sole star of the film.

@Reza: You're right. I considered Helmut Berger for The Damned, so I interchanged the titles.

@flipp: I'd say that Charles Laughton is the only lead in Ruggles of Red Gap. Not that it makes me right or wrong, but when I was looking through the Oscar shouldabeens thread, most everyone placed Ruggles in Support. Maybe I'll watch it again this weekend to come to a final verdict.
