OK, I can't delay this much longer.

Two things I'm specifically murky on: 1) Whether Olivia Colman will be treated as lead or supporting. If the latter, she could threaten. 2) If Roma wins best film, do they forgo best foreign-language film, or vote on one with Roma excluded? If the former, I don't need to choose anyone; in the case of the latter, I'll include a consolation-round pick.

Film: Roma
[The Favourite]
Actor: Christian Bale (Vice)
[Ethan Hawke (First Reformed)]
Actress: Yalitza Aparicio (Roma)
[Toni Colette (Hereditary)]
Sup. Actor: Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?)
[Steve Yeun (Burning)]
Sup. Actress: Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk)
[Amy Adams (Vice)]
Director: Alfonso Cuaron (Roma)
[Barry Jenkins (If Beale Street Could Talk)]
Screenplay: The Favourite
[Sorry to Bother You]
Cinematography: Roma
[Cold War]
Production Design: Black Panther
[The Favourite]
Editing: First Man
[Vice]
Use of Music: A Star is Born
[If Beale Street Could Talk]
Animation: Mirai
[Isle of Dogs]
Non-Fiction Film: Free Solo
[Three Identical Strangers]
New Generation: Bo Burnham (Eighth Grade)
[Boots Riley (Sorry to Bother You)]
Foreign Language Film: Burning
[Shoplifters]

Not till the 9th, per the schedule.

For the first time I can recall, we'll have Globe nominations (6th) prior to LA. Meaning we'll have a better view on chances for The Favourite and Vice (the films omitted by both NBR & NY, a la Shape of Water/Three Billboards) before we get to LA.

Not sure when these are being released. There's no date set but very slowly they've been creeping up from 12/09 to 12/03 so probably within the next three days of so.

So these are my predictions. Quick update on my competition: doing pretty well. I'm currently in the lead by one point. The bulk of my choices are truly going to end up worthless but Roma is going to keep me afloat through the critics awards while The Favourite will keep me in play through the Golden Globes and SAGs.

PREDICTIONS
Los Angeles Film Critics Association:
Best Film: Roma
Best Actor: Christian Bale, Vice
Best Actress: Olivia Colman, The Favourite
Best Supporting Actor: Steven Yeun, Burning
Best Supporting Actress: Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk
Best Director: Alfonso Cuaron, Roma
Best Screenplay: Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara, The Favourite
Best Cinematography: Alfonso Cuaron, Roma
Best Editing: First Man
Best Production Design: The Favourite
Best Use of Music: A Star is Born
Best Animation: Isle of Dogs
Best Non-Fiction Film (Documentary): Won't You Be My Neighbor?
New Generation Award: Bo Burnham, Eighth Grade

NOTE: Like a fool (FOOL) I changed my music prediction from Beale Street to A Star is Born when I saw that he cited it as “Best Use of Music.” And yet today, I see of course their award is for Best Music/Score. You let me down, Tee. But really I let myself down.)
