Do we expect the inevitable backlash before or after the nominations?

You guys beat me to the punch...

"Oscar math" can lead one to look pretty silly in retrospect. "Steven Spielberg + Meryl Streep + Tom Hanks + The Writer of Spotlight = Guaranteed Oscar Nominations!" To be fair, we were right. The Post did technically receive more than one Oscar nomination. There's a lot of passion in these reviews which is worth getting excited about. It should be said though that Owen Gleiberman seems to be completely in the tank for Damien Chazelle. At this point, the only question is which place near the top of his Best of the Decade list will La La Land sit.

If this thing hits, we're looking at nominations for:
Best Picture
Best Director / Damien Chazelle
Best Actor / Ryan Gosling
Best Supporting Actor / Jason Clarke
Best Supporting Actress / Claire Foy
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Original Score
Best Cinematography
Best Film Editing
Best Art Direction
Best Costume Design
Best Sound Mixing
Best Sound Editing
Best Visual Effects

Thanks, Miguel. I just watched it - it's a huge improvement.

I think the second trailer that was released today is much better than the first one.

Having just seen the first two seasons of The Crown I think Claire Foy is a very good actress.
