Depending on the movie's box-office performance, it looks like Thompson now moves into the center of what's now going to be our month-long debate over who Amy Adams is going to replace in best actress.

LOL, was just about to come here to congratulate Big Magilla for his big morning.
It may be perverse, but I was actually happier about who got shut out than who got in - no Oprah, no Melissa McCarthy, no double nod for Sandra Bullock, her co-star in another tasteless comedy.

On the plus side, I'm happy for Bardhad Abdi and Daniel Bruhl, both of whom, along with their SAG nods from yesterday, are now more likely to be nominated for Oscars than many thought they would be. Of the women, most happy to see Julie Delpy recognized.

Most conspicuous by its omission: Saving Mr. Banks from all but Best Actress, Drama. Disney's exercise in self-promotion is clearly not the juggernaut the bloggers have been predicting.

I was gloating over this one, especially since NBC promoted the hell out of Oprah and the film, leading up to the announcement with "this could be a big morning for Oprah" or something of the sort.

Tried to get these earlier, but the hfpa site's feed was terrible.
