I voted for ryder...i thought she was good in an average film...but it was more for her reality bites role. I'm with the original poster who said they wouldn't nominate any of these. I'm also with those who liked jennifer jason leigh the best that year...if fiorentino is ineligible...if she was eli...

I know it was predicted by some over the course of the year...but i haven't really seen it as even a contender recently...i know i'm probably going to be wrong about it, but i do think with 10 nominees you have to consider more than 12 or 13 films..and i keep hearing the same 12 films being mention...

Picture An Education Avatar Hurt Locker Inglorious Basterds Invictus Precious Up Up in the Air Where the Wild Things Are Those are my nine that i feel semi strongly about...even though no one has felt that where the wild things are is going to get nominated...i've thought it was going to get in eve...

Rolo, why do you think there are people on this board that are offended by the possibility of lincoln being black? I don't really get that and you keep repeating it, like your sure this board and a lot of this country would go into mourning if it was proved that lincoln turned out to be part black....

i couldn't agree more with those statements....i will never understand all the love for button either, beyond its beauty and wonderful sound, its a very below average story. And to give its script(the weakest part of the film) a win, let alone a nomination is laughable even in a weak year for adapt...

ahhh give em all 5 nominees...its a nice number...so what if there are only 20 animated films, more nominees the better lol. But as for songs, the song performances are a highlight for me of the ceremony, its a nice break from it all...so i wish there 5 nominees for at least that reason alone. And ...

On this years award....i think it would be incredibly awkward for the winner if there is an upset, wether it be downey or brolin, i would not want my oscar to come where everyone is counting on a ledger win. I imagine a very awkward acceptance speech if that happened. Now i don't think there is any...

I finally just saw this film. First of all i didn't read many reviews of the film and had no idea it took place in new jersey. My father worked as a nurse for over 25 years in the hospital rourke walks out of after his heart attack. That was a nice surprise seeing that entrance. And i grew up aroun...

The scene where his son and his wife come over on his birthday and try to convice him to more to the retirement village was one of the most unintentially funny scenes I've seen this year. I'd first like to take issue with this one post. How is this scene not intentially funny? This is probably the ...

Overall thoughts.....seeing milk is my favorite film of the year i really thought this was the night i might see it win something, but slumdog again. I said it the night of bfc awards, that was the same night i saw slumdog, i was convinced it would win everything for the entire year and i still say...

I don't think it's a matter of being strict. I think it harks back to 1963 when Patricia Neal's clearly supporting role in Hud was elevated to lead due to the lack of strong support for any of the true leads that year, and like Neal, she'll win. Remember that year, Melvyn Douglas, whose role in Hud...
