The ceremony will start at 11pm local Lisbon time. This is the earliest ever. I remember in 1993 when it started here at 4am
I will get a 5 hour sleep this year

Re: Categories One-by-One: International Feature
Mister Tee wrote I'm utterly ambivalent about Perfect Days. I find it beautifully composed and shot, and it has some very powerful scenes near the end (one involving the main character's sister is teeming with unspoken resonance). Can I ask: did you watch this at home or on the big screen? I didn't...

Re: SAG Thoughts/Winners to be Added
After watching the ceremony I felt a kind of indifference towards the winners overall, except Lily Gladstone. She was the only one that got a standing ovation which makes me believe that she will win the Oscar.
I’m afraid we are heading to a very dull Oscar ceremony.

Although the Lisbon portrayed in the film has zero to do with the actual real city, the real Lisbon has in fact a very luminous light specially in the summerMister Tee wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 8:41 pm I'd put the lighting of the skies in Lisbon up against any image in Oppenheimer.

Re: New category: Best Achievement in Casting
How does one evaluate Best Casting? All other categories are tangible. A performance is a performance, make up is make up, original score is music and so on… what is Best Casting?

Re: Category Fraud Alert (2023) -- Correcting Oscar
I think maybe the most apt analogy for this sudden Bening push would be Art Carney 1974 -- a well-liked veteran whose film wasn't as big a deal as those of his competitors (three to-then un-Oscared superstars in best picture nominees). But, even there, Carney had been spoken of far more strongly as...

Re: "Frauds" and "Snubs"
The problem with your frustration is that I find conversations about "snub" and "fraud" tend to lead to a lot of good conversations. Maybe not in general but certainly on this board. The word snub is definitely thrown around loosely and it's pretty subjective. Category fraud isn...
