Re: Reasons/blame for Whiteout 2?
I get the impression that there is a quiet discomfort among many in the AMPAS membership over the way CBI is handling this.

Re: Reasons/blame for Whiteout 2?
Why do I feel like QE (Quantitative Easing) has come to the Oscars.
Do as Ben Bernanke – when you don't get the result you want, just print more money.
Cheryl Boone Isaacs regrets the results and will open the floodgates to 8 acting nominations per category and a max 10 in Best Picture again.

Re: Reasons/blame for Whiteout 2?
Now Mark Ruffalo is blaming white privilege for the whiteout instead of having the guts to say that Idris Elba should've been nominated instead of himself. Crazy! Of course, he tweeted that he will attend the show in support of journalists and sexual abuse survivors in the church.

Re: Reasons/blame for Whiteout 2?
Some thoughts: 1) Spike Lee’s resentment in 1989-90 was not so much with Dead Poet’s Society but with Best Picture winner Driving Miss Daisy. Lee hates DMD with a passion and not just on artistic grounds but for the fact that its victory was interpreted as a kind of stamp of approval from the Academ...

Re: Honorary Oscar Winners
Seeing Spike Lee get an honorary Oscar will be interesting given that last year he said the Academy can go "fuck themselves" for ignoring Selma in most major categories. He's also still bitter that Do the Right Thing was ignored by the Academy in the same year that Driving Miss Daisy won B...

That would make Cooper a four-time-in-a-row nominee which would provide a strong narrative for a win. Jennife...

In the Best Actor category, Eddie Redmayne is nominated for playing a character (Stephen Hawking) who was also portrayed by co-nominee Benedict Cumberbatch in a 2004 BBC TV movie called Hawking . Has this ever happened before, where within the same category, two nominees have a connection to the sam...
