Re: Oscar Winners Predictions Contest
I forgot my tie breakers:
The Artist will win the most.
Whitney Houston will be last.
Meryl Streep will receive a standing O.

Re: Damien
Very sad news. As a lurker and rare participant for the last ten years or so, Damien always was a mainstay and important member of the board. I wish him, his friends and family, peace and no pain.

Re: Nominees We Haven't Seen
I was surprised to see that four theaters here in Milwaukee are playing Albert Nobbs including the one at the mall. I opted for A Dangerous Method instead but eventually I'll see Nobbs. I was really disappointed to find out that one of my local arthouse theaters opted to hang on to The Descendents f...

Re: 2011 Oscar Nominations
A couple of things I noticed when I rewatched the nomination announcement on YouTube: Tom Sherak has zero charisma. Would it wrong to act just a tad excited? And why was he pronouncing it "Yugo" instead of "Hugo?" Also, the picture they used for Jessica Chastain was from The Tree...

Re: Final Oscar Predictions
Thanks rolo. I'm quite proud of my two EL&IC predictions, along with the Woodley snub. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought she was just adequate!

Re: Oscar Predictions at Year End
Proving once again I am terrible at predicting, I technically only got one category perfect, in that my top nine listed for best picture were the nine nominated. My worst category, Best Song; although I did have that only two songs would be nominated on my NGNG.

Re: Final Oscar Predictions
In the realm of No Guts No Glory, I have a few oddballs, yet possibilities: 1. There are ten Best Picture nominees, and one of them is My Week With Marilyn. 2. Jessica Chastain gets no nomination. 3. There are only two Best Song nominees, both from The Muppets. 4. Shame and The Iron Lady, and Moneyb...

Re: The Official Review Thread of 2011
The Iron Lady I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had been 100% linear. Start at her childhood and move towards her senility. The flashbacks and memories were just not effective to me, didn't stir up the emotions that were intended. Of course, Streep was fantastic but the film supplied no gre...

Re: WGA Nominations
I know some screenplays were ineligible for different reasons, but I'm glad it opened up room for Young Adult to get cited. I predict Midnight in Paris and Moneyball to win from this group.
