Re: 2011 Oscar Nominations
Tree of Life is in the race for film, director, and cinematography. I am pleased. It's also great to see Scorsese still on his game and the incredible Roony Mara getting a nod. I have no major complaints for this year's list of contenders.

Re: Pre-code films out from Warner Archive
I heard about the Hay's Production Code recently while enjoying a sudden kick to watch Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies (uncensored on YouTube). In the short A Tale of Two Kitties , featuring caricatures of Abbott and Costello. Babbit (Abbot) tells Catstello (Costello) to "Give me the bird. Giv...

Re: Armond White's 2011 Better-Than List
Who is this idiot? Ummm..... in short, Armond White is the internet-movie world's favourite whipping boy. If you disagree with him, he might accuse you of being racist (1999 best actor discussion). If everyone likes a film, he does his best to hate it. If he admits to liking it before realizing tha...

Re: Academy VFX Shortlist
Were some of the posts deleted in this thread? I could have sworn I had an argument in support of Super 8 last month. People said I was crazy. Looks like they were right. My predictions: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Hugo Rise of the Planet of the Apes The Tree of Life X-Men: First Class

So far he hasn't done much other than being a giant cat head floating in the mountains. He has some powers of manipulation, but his true abilities have not been revealed thus far.

I remember getting in an argument with you three years ago. I was 20 then. In retrospect, I don't think I was ready for that.ITALIANO wrote:(At least I HOPE that you are young... 19, 20 maybe. Otherwise... well, never mind).

Re: PGA Nominations
I've come to accept the fate of The Tree of Life as well. Though, if it does get nominated, it will be a nice surprise.

Comic I'm Working On
Most of you know my hobbies consist of writing/recording music and screenwriting. *Reminder: I'm Zahveed under a new name* Another hobby of mine includes art. Drawing, painting, photography - that sort of thing. Right now I'm working on a comic book project inspired by a misstep I had with a previou...

Re: Oscar Predictions at Year End
I've been pretty out of it this year in regards to the cinema. Haven't seen or studied much of the contenders this year to give my two-cents. This is mostly because I've been busy with work and partly because the girl I was seeing before I left was not really into movies. Looking at what we're deali...

Re: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo reviews
I enjoyed the film. That being said, I have the book and have not finished it and I have the Swedish films saved on my Netflix cue and have not watched them. It had a special premiere screening on base here (a rare ocassion for those familiar with military theaters), so I took the opportunity to wat...
