It's a little disappointing to see Nicolas Cage ousted while Jack Nicholson remains. But Brody and Caine deserve their spots, while Scott and Grant are excellent choices.

An Education (Scherfig) - 5/10

Wonderful star turn and supporting female cast lift schematic script that leaves us with two messages: 1) be bored and work hard through the early 60's, and 2) don't trust Jews.

There. The message of An Education is one of two things: 1) trust the faceless uncaring institution to lead to whatever vague opportunities promised/threatened by the sour-faced marms leading you along, or 2) don't trust Jews. (Sorry guys, what have you done in this category? (Polansky and Daldry out?)

Hey, Esther Kahn is better than The Pianist and Talk to Her. No idea why you're bemoaning the exclusion of Stephen Daldry.

Copy that. I had to think very hard about my choice. I think Polanski and Almodovar are two of the best nominees this decade, but my viewing of Esther Kahn knocked me on my ass. I was going to replace Julianne Moore for The Hours with Ronit Elkabetz for Late Marriage or Isabelle Huppert for 8 Women...

They complain about Meryl Streep's accents, but no one has more annoying accents up her sleeve than Moore, especially in tandem with Todd Haynes.

I don't like Meryl Streep's menopausal bitch accent in The Hours.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind is illustrated in the dictionary next to "putrid"

Ha! No it's not! I just checked and you're wrong! There is nothing illustrated in the dictionary next to putrid.

I say it's the best film of the decade.
