Breaking Away 7/10 I expected to like this film more. I don't get Barbara Barrie's nomination (not to mention that when i started watching it i expected Barbara Harris to be in it), especially since her screen husband Paul Dooley is the one that should be nominated. I saw this a few months ago and ...

Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971) - John Schlesinger 9/10 Extremely well crafted film, with exquisit acting, directing and an really well written screenplay. A movie about affections (and the lack of them) it's easy to feel connected with these characters and the movie doesn't feel dated at all. I wonder...

I'm not familiar with Pasqualino Settebellezze or Una Giornata Particolare, but Diary of a Mad Housewife, Once Is Not Enough, Pete 'n' Tillie and The Emigrants are the only other films from your list that I haven't found available for purchase anywhere. I don't know about rentals. I found a copy of...

Seeing The English Patient on the front row of a packed 800 seats theater still remains, twelve years after it happened, one the my greatest cinematic experiences. I was completely overwelmed by the greatness of this film and it still remains one of my favourite films of all time. I was then starti...

The performance that was criminally ignored was Beatty's. His was easily the year's best lead comedic work. He should have been nominated in place of Walter Matthau's hambone crapola in The Sunshine Boys. The Sunshine Boys is on my shelf waiting to be seen, part of my accolade of seeing all acting ...

Really want to see Shampoo. I'm a very big Ashby fan. Did Lee Grant deserve the Oscar over Lily Tomlin? I can't imagine a better performance that year. I still have to see Nashville but I think Grant fully deserved at least a nomination. Jack Warden for me is the one who deserved it. Edited By Big ...

Enchanted April (1992) - Mike Newell 6/10 Fine little british film that looks like a made for television film from the BBC. Overall the cast is very good and the real standout is Joan Plowright who really deserved her oscar nomination. The 1992 BSA race was really tight. My choice still is Judy Dav...
